In building a premium collection of evaluated scholarly Web sites, Web Content
Editors in the Thomson Scientific Editorial Development department designed
a comprehensive selection process modeled on the quality editorial standards
developed by ISI for the selection of scholarly journals, books, and proceedings.
In the absence of peer review, citation data, and established journal publishing
standards, measuring the value of a Web site has necessitated the development
of specialized criteria specifically oriented to Web information. These criteria
include:
- Authority
- Accuracy
- Currency
- Navigation and design
- Quality of writing
